The 2016 Christkindlmarket Mug Is Here, & It's Not What You'd Expect

We have some tough news to break to you this morning. Christkindlmarket has revealed this year's souvenir mug ... and it's not shaped like a boot.

We know, we're just as crushed as you are. After the boot-gates of 2013 and 2014, we thought they would never again toy with our emotions in this way.

Here's a tissue to wipe away those tears. Better?

Now that we've collected ourselves, let's take a better look at this little mug. It's kind of cute, I guess. It's like a mini beer stein. It's got the Chicago skyline and a panorama depiction of the market and of course the creepy Christkind queen lady. And look at that little logo printed on the inside lip. That's a nice touch.

Alright, we'll take it. It's still a festive vessel to hold our Glühwein and it can join the other mini mugs in our collection; we’ll just arrange them by shape instead of year and cross our fingers for 2017.

Christkindlmarket opens Friday, Nov. 18 on Daley Plaza. Get there early to snag a 2016 mug, because they usually run out in the first couple of weeks.
