It was only a few weeks ago that our beloved Bill Murray was everywhere, grabbing the World Series trophy, crashing the White House press room, singing along with Eddie Vedder at a local house party, gifting to strangers like some baseball guardian angel, and generally wowing the world with his ability to achieve total ubiquity without spilling over into grating overexposure—like only Murray can do.

Today we came across a heartwarming little tidbit that had us reliving those days (Groundhog Day-style, one might say), and it had a double Chicago connection: according to hometown hip-hop hero Lupe Fiasco, not only did Murray make a surprise stop to see Lupe’s show in Austin, TX this week, he led the charge for an encore.

“When Bill Murray comes to your show in Austin, TX and proceeds to FORCE an encore!” Fiasco Tweeted on Wednesday. It's perhaps our favorite hip-hop-related Murray moment since this gem.

Good to see Lupe in solid spirits after the don’t-call-it-a-fiasco that befell his plan to release three albums this year. (Side note: if you haven't seen Lupe's visual-art exhibition at Ed Paschke Art Center before to check it out before it closes on Dec 23.)
