The Chicago Police Department is looking for help identifying a man who allegedly followed an elderly woman into her home, attacked her and stole her purse.

A 94-year-old Chicago Lawn woman reported being followed into her home by a strange man, who battered her and took her purse, according to police. The man then fled in a stole car, which he then crashed and ran away from in the 5700 block of South Archer Avenue. The car was stolen from around 6200 South Francisco Avenue.

The man appears in an image released by CPD as 25-35 years old, 200 lbs, black, bearded, and wearing a brown leather jacket.

Police recommend that victims of similar crimes always lock their doors and windows, report suspicious activity to the police and dial 9-1-1 immediately, and save copies of any video surveillance equipment.
