Video: Chance The Rapper Salutes Obama In Run-D.M.C. Parody On 'SNL'

By Stephen Gossett in Arts & Entertainment on Dec 18, 2016 4:55PM

Roughly a year after his last music-guest-headlining appearance, Chance the Rapper returned to Saturday Night Live—and once again, he did not disappoint.

Aside from performing two cuts from Coloring Book, he joined Kenan Thompson for ‘Jingle Barack,’ a spot-on parody sketch of Run-D.M.C.’s holiday favorite “Christmas in Hollis” that doubled as tribute to Barack Obama. Chance—in Darryl McDaniels-style glasses and chain—deliver gems like “We got birth control under the tree / And we stuffin’ every stocking with legal weed” and "I've been drinking eggnog like I don't care / Imma hurt myself before I lose Obamacare.” (McDaniels himself and a Salt-N-Pepa-invoking Leslie Jones show up for cameos, too.)

As much as we enjoyed Chance’s acting chops—which certainly bode well for his upcoming feature-length film debut—the music portions were of course what got us in the seat. He first performed “Finish Line/Drown” with an assist from Noname, then followed up with “Same Drugs,” which featured Francis and the Lights.
