Wrigley Field has seen its fair share of rock stars .Heck, at this point we've grown accustomed to the notion that Eddie Vedder may never leave the park again. And in recent years the acts that have co-opted the venerable baseball stadium in the name of pop have included a variety of artists—The Police, Billy Joel, Brad Paisley and (shudder) Jimmy Buffet, to name a few.

More recently, both Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters have played Wrigley, helping turn the show volume up to 11. But this year things will get even more chaotic in the Friendly Confines when Green Day plays the park.

That's right, Green Day. While the exact date hasn't been announced yet, the band has confirmed they will be playing Wrigley Field in 2017. We're guessing, based on the Cubs traveling schedule and Green day's tour dates, it may fall between Aug 22 to 25, but don't quote us on that.

UPDATE 1/13: We nailed it with our prediction! The band will be playing Wrigley Field on Aug. 24, and tickets go on sale on Jan. 20.

Here's a flashback to the last time Green Day played a big outdoor show in Chicago to get you excited.
