The CTA warned of "major delays" on the Red Line Tuesday evening due to a person on the tracks at the State/Lake station around 7:40 p.m. CTA authorities announced that service was resuming with delays around 7:55 p.m.

A man was spotted on the northbound train tracks, according to people who were waiting on the platform, and a southbound train conductor got off his train to help him while waiting for emergency crews to arrive. The delay stretched on for almost 20 minutes as CTA employees attempted to help the man up. It was unclear whether the man fell onto the tracks or had jumped intentionally. The man did not appear seriously injured.
