It's Looking Like Chance The Rapper Is Probably Playing Lollapalooza

It's still not confirmed, let it be stressed, but a pretty direct hint from the man himself has signs pointing toward a Chance the Rapper appearance at this year's Lollapalooza festival.

"Yea I'd say go buy the #lolla ticket #Lollapalooza," Chance tweeted on Tuesday morning, roughly an hour after tickets to the 2017 edition of the summer-music-fest grandaddy went on sale.

As was roundly noted when Chicago was conspicuously absent from a series of Chance tour dates announced last month, there were big Pitchfork- and Lolla-shaped holes in the itinerary. Once again a four-day slog affair, Lolla descends on Grant Park from August 3 through 6; and Chance has no dates scheduled between July 9 (the Wireless Festival in London) and August 10 (Way Out West Festival).

If you didn't heed Chance's advice, you'll have to try your luck either on the secondary market or when single-day tickets go on sale: four-day passes sold out early on Tuesday afternoon. We wouldn't put it past Chance to hook up a fan or two, but you probably shouldn't rely on it.

If Chance does indeed play Lolla—and it certainly appears that way after today—it'll be interesting to see how the festival's notorious radius clause might affect any of Chance's other potential Chicago plans, such as a Magnificent Coloring Day encore. Just speculation, but you'd think Lolla organizers would be willing to grant whatever exceptions are needed to keep such a "get" happy.
