Not that you couldn't walk it before, but this Saturday the Chicago Riverwalk officially opened. After months of construction and attention from international eyeballs, the city made sure to usher in the multi-million dollar project with sufficient fanfare over the weekend, with puppets, tours, cruises, a dragon boat race and more. But the coup de grĂ¢ce was the so-called "pyrotechnic waterfall," which as it turned out, was pretty much exactly what it sounded like it'd be. Was it a little bit cornball? Well, all fireworks extravaganzas are kinda cornball—but this one was impressive at the same time. Given recent history, from the Fire Festival fiasco up to the forthcoming Rolling Stones potential eye-roller, that's not always a given here. Enjoy some clips below of the 'Murica-style spectacle done right.
