Photo: The Cubs Are On A Gloriously Overdressed 'Anchorman'-Themed West Coast Trip

Cubs manager Joe Maddon never misses an opportunity to boost team spirit through group costumes. So this spring, he's got the team dressing up in suits and cowboy hats as characters from Anchorman for their ongoing Southern California trip.

As you can see, the team is staying classy for their trip to Los Angeles, and plan to carry on the theme next week in San Diego—the city named after marine animal anatomy (of course)—where the iconic movie Anchorman takes place:

In the past, Maddon has gotten the team to dress up in wacky suits and onesie pajamas for team flights around the country. Maddon is apparently calling this one the "Ron Burgundy/Brick Tamland/Tommy La Stella Tribute Road Trip" because he thinks Steve Carell's character looks like La Stella.

“Where 60 percent of the time it works every time, sponsored by 'Sex Panther' cologne,” Maddon explained to reporters.

Let's hope the Cubs' record for the year is better than that, at least.
