Possibly the best thing about summer is the ability to justify eating huge amounts of cold desserts. Of course you have to consume 1000 calories in a sitting—it's hot outside, what else are you supposed to do? Plus, everyone knows calories don't count when they are free, which means today is going to be a seriously awesome day.

From noon to 9 p.m., Talenti Gelato is setting up shop in Millennium Park, just West of the Pritzker Pavilion. They'll have a big truck, and they'll be giving away pints (not scoops, pints) of delicious gelato. They've got 15,000 pints to give away before they pack up and leave.

And if your office doesn't have a freezer, you'll just have no choice but to eat it all.

Correction: At first this post incorrectly stated that gelato would be served from 9 a.m. to noon. It is actually noon to 9 p.m.
