Take a lunch note: one of the city's iconic eateries is serving up a Chicago signature for cheap next week. In honor of National Hot Dog Day (which we're promised is a true, genuine thing), the folks at Portillo's are offering $1 hot dogs on Wednesday, July 19—although there is a slight catch, of course.

You can get a regular-sized hot dog for $1 with the accompanying purchase of any sandwich, entrée salad, entrée pasta or ribs. The offer is good at all locations, so let your Chicago-to-California -Tampa or -Minneapolis transplant pals know, too. The deal is only while supplies last, so maybe think about an early lunch that day. Both Chicago-proper locations (520 W. Taylor St., 100 W. Ontario St.) open at 10 a.m.
