Police say that a driver fired at them before leading them on a 7-mile chase that ended when the suspect crashed into a pole at a gas station.

Police told Chicagoist that they spotted a man driving erratically in a Silver Toyota around 11:30 p.m. last night at Grand and Harlem avenues in the neighborhood of Montclare. The driver fired at them and then led them on a chase that ended at the intersection of Fullerton and Ashland avenues, when the driver crashed into a pole attempting to make a turn. The crash happened just west of DePaul University at a BP gas station.

The suspect was transported to Masonic hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and he's in good condition. Chicago police spokesperson Officer Brandi Wright says that charges for him are still pending. One police officer involved in the chase was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.
