Chicago's burrito game is hardly lacking, but it'll welcome a fairly well-known newcomer later this month when Dos Toros arrives in the Loop. The New York-based chain—which serves up Mission-style burritos—will celebrate their arrival at their new Chicago location by serving up $1 burritos.

We first caught wind of Dos Toros imminent arrival on Chicago's burrito scene back in April and have been waiting curiously since. Our East Coat friends tell us it's not dissimilar from Chipotle in setup, a fast-casual burrito joint where they build your burritos, platos, salads, quesadillas and tacos in along a made-to-order line.

Even though the company is New York-based, it defends its San Francisco bona fides by pointing out the fact that co-founders Leo and Oliver Kremer grew up in the Bay Area and dove headlong into their local taquerias there.

The Chicago location opens Aug. 28 at 1 N. Dearborn St., at 11 a.m., with its aforementioned $1 burrito day. They're also donating a meal to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and The Food Bank for NYC for each meal sold or selfie posted with the #DosTorosCHI hashtag. At least it'll be for a good cause.
