We've been following the expansion of Dill Pickle, the cooperative grocery store in Logan Square, for quite a while. Back in 2015, they announced that they were moving from their tiny original storefront to a 10,000-square-feet spot on Milwaukee Avenue. It took some time to raise the money and complete the buildout, but it's finally done. The new store is now set to open on Sept. 8.

Dill Pickle announced the opening in an email yesterday. There's a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 10:45 a.m., and the actual opening is at 11. The new store is right next to the Blue Line at 2746 N. Milwaukee, and will offer a full line of groceries. Given the changes that have come to Whole Foods and the dearth of local, sustainable grocery options in Chicago, this independent, community-owned store is a welcome new option. You can become an owner of Dill Pickle (and get some great benefits) here.

If you're looking for a bargain, everything at the current location of Dill Pickle is 20 percent off until the store closes on Sept. 3.

Update 9/7/17 at 9 a.m.: A representative from the Dill Pickle contacted us to let us know that the opening has been postponed until Sept. 8 (Friday) morning. It was originally supposed to open today, Sept. 7. On Facebook, they announced some problems with their new cash register systems that made the postponement necessary.
