While restaurant week is an overwhelming mess (and sometimes a bad deal) some of the smaller RW imitators can be a lot of fun. A whole group of Lincoln Square/Ravenswood spots are running deals for a week in October, from Oct. 15 to 20.

15 different spots are doing deals, and unlike Chicago Restaurant Week, they're all a little bit different, so do your research before you go. The complete list of participants is below, but a few of my favorite deals include:

- $30 3-course dinner at Cafe Selmarie, including a fall squash salad, grilled salmon and a seasonally-appropriate maple pumpkin eclair (there are also other choices).

- An amazingly cheap $20 3-course dinner at The Grafton, which is ideal if you like fish and chips.

- A $29 3-course dinner at The Northman, a great opportunity to try their surprisingly good menu (often overlooked in favor of their cider)

- A huge array of choices for a 3-course prix fixe at Due Lire, total cost $35.

As always, check out the deals before you go and make sure the math works out and you like the choices, but if you've been waiting to go any of the restaurants on this list, next week might be the perfect time.
