Police are sending out an alert, warning of a number of armed robberies on the Near West Side. A notable detail is that the suspects were sometimes spotted wearing surgical masks and surgical gloves.

These robberies have happened earlier this week, and victims spotted a handgun—or at least what they believed to be a handgun, police say. There are two men suspected in the robberies, who are both 18 to 29 years old, stand between 5'7" and 6'3" and are 140 to 210 pounds. They are wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and occasionally the aforementioned surgical gear. The robberies happened here:

• 2300 Block of West Monroe Street on Sunday, October 22 at 4:15 p.m.
• 1400 Block of West Carroll Avenue on Sunday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m.
• 1300 Block of West Fulton Street on Monday, October 23 at 12:20 a.m.
• 300 Block of South Hoyne Avenue on Monday, October 23 at 12:45 a.m.

During the Carroll robbery, one of the offenders wore a mask, and in the Hoyne Avenue robbery, both suspects were wearing a mask and gloves.
