Logan Square is about to lose a couple of its more noteworthy go-to spots. Both Johnny's Grill and Mezcaleria Las Flores are closing next week, both announced on Friday on social media. The last day of service will be Friday, November 3rd.

Mezcaleria Las Flores posted on Facebook on Friday afternoon:

"A big thank you to everyone involved in both places from the beginning, especially our fearless and talented leader Chef Sarah Jordan. We can't thank her enough for all of the heart and soul that she put into every last bite. While we are saddened, we hope you'll come say goodbye in the next few days and have a mezcal cocktail and a double cheeseburger. Thank you for the memories."

Johnny's Grill was a long-running greasy-spoon favorite of the Logan Square neighborhood before Jordan (ex-Boka and GT Fish & Oyster) took over the shuttered space in 2015, giving it a slightly fancy redo but keeping the name. The aforementioned cheeseburger that she added quickly became a popular and critical favorite.

The adjoining Mezcaleria Las Flores, which debuted a year later, made perhaps even bigger waves, arriving as one of the pack leaders of Chicago's then-emergent mezcal boom. But the bar took a hit when its much-acclaimed beverage director Jay Schroeder decamped earlier this year, later to join Quiote, the celebrated, Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, also located in Logan Square.

Both will be missed.
