Wine dinners abound throughout the city. 312 Chicago is hosting a dinner tomorrow night at 7 p.m. featuring the latest release from Hewiston Wines' "Mad Hatter" shiraz. It's part of a national tour promoting the 2006 vintage just hitting restaurants and wine shops right now. Winemaker Dean Hewiston will be in attendance.

Venetian Night falls upon us Saturday, which means that the crowds coming downtown to witness the fireworks and boats on the lake will rival Taste of Chicago's. Chef Luca Corazzina's of 312 Chicago has put together a Venetian-themed menu available from tomorrow through Sunday. He's also bringing in his mother, Gabriella, to give him a helping hand in the kitchen. Corazzina lists his mother as an influence on his becoming a chef and this brings certain full circle closure to his chef's career to this point. It would also be cool to see Gabriella Corazzina walkign around the dining room, giving it a classic Italian mother's touch.

Bistro 110 (110 E. Pearson, 312-266-3110) is hosting a Two Brothers beer tasting from 6-8;30 p.m. this evening. They'll be pouring Domaine Dupage, Dog Days Dortmunder Lager, Ebel's Weiss and Cane & Ebel. Light noshes including quiche lorraine, steamed mussels, cheese and charcuterie stations, frites, smoked pork loin and sauerkraut, and Bistro 110 house pizzas. Both Jim and Jason Ebel from Two Brothers will be on hand to lead the tasting. Cost is $25.

Luca Corazzina, former Executive Chef at VIVO, Prosecco and Figo in suburban Glen Ellyn, is the new executive Chef at 312 Chicago. The native of Padova landed in Chicago with his family in 1986, where they opened their own restaurant in Little Italy (Corazzina's mother is also a professional chef).

There are a couple of really interesting beer dinners of note in the coming weeks that could wind up being hard reservations, if you're the type to wait until the last minute to get reservations.
