So the snow projected for tomorrow through Thursday is expected to finally give us the whole "Thundersnow/Snowpacalypse" big dump of white powder worthy of dibs that we've really been missing so far. Already, meterologists are comparing this to previous large blizzards. Second City Cop said Mayor Daley, since he's a lame duck, should just "Bilandic" snow removal operations, which would drive residents to do more than "stomp SOS and HELP in the ground." One reader suggested we call the forthcoming snow a "snownami;" Karl coined the term "blizzaster." We're just gonna call it "Tuesday." more ›

Today's Weather: The Hawk Returns

Hope you enjoyed the thaw a bit last week, because if both Accuweather and Skilling and Co. are to be believed, we're in for heavy east winds today to go with the clouds and a high in the mid-20's. The winds will be coming off the lake at 10-20 MPH. The clouds are predicted to thicken this afternoon, bringing tidings of snow through Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a lakeshore flood watch until 3 p.m. tomorrow. Those winds are due to pick up in intensity, whipping the lake into a frenzy. more ›

Weekend Winter Weather

Well, we thought it was going to be a calm weather weekend. As it turns out, it's looking more and more like we're going to kick the weekend off with a bang. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the area beginning at 3 a.m. tomorrow morning and continuing until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. In between, it looks like the area could receive between 4 and 8 inches of snow. The advisory states that snow will move into the area in the pre-dawn hours, so be prepared for the morning rush hour. And as for the evening rush hour? Ugh, we don't even want to think about it. more ›
