Lining Up For The New iPhone

While the rest of us are still chatting about last night's Storm Of The Century (Of The Week), a group of stalwarts has their minds focused on one thing only: the new iPhone. While many Apple fans had theirs set for delivery, plenty of folks are still antsy enough to line up outside the Mag Mile Apple Store for their turn at owning a new, shiny, coveted ... phone. more ›

An Apple Kind Of Town

An Apple Kind Of Town

Maybe we shouldn't have been so shocked to see folks lining up outside the Michigan Ave. Apple Store for the first crack at the iPad. In a new survey by Experian Simmons [h/t our pals at Gapers Block], the greater Chicago area ranked in the top 10 Apple markets in the country, coming in sixth. According to their survey, 2,146,136 of the area's 7,308,586 adults (or 29.4 percent) use an Apple product, such as an iPhone or iPod. This kind of news is probably music to Apple's ears as they erect that brand new store in Lincoln Park and angle for that CTA Northy/Clybourn station domination. more ›

iPhone Lands in Chicago

iPhone Lands in Chicago

Earlier this week, accompanied by armed guards, and carefully escorted onto American soil, the first shipment of iPhones began to arrive. The creator of the ubiqitous iPod, has the PR buzz (or Reality Distortion Field) in full effect, and we can't remember so many people ever caring so much about a cell phone. No one really got excited about the new Blackberry (even if they are promoted by John Mayer), and when an updated TREO... more ›

Austinist gets arty with an interactive guide to SXSW, loved some local art galleries and a new art exhibit and lamented the possible loss of "Friday Night Lights" production to New Mexico. Bostonist was happy they finally found an Anna Nicole Smith connection to their fair city and that an Apple Store was opening up. They were less happy that new rules have been established limiting underage shows and that their Governor is spending... more ›

Extra, Extra

The most recent update to the Chicago neighborhood map has upset realtors, developers, and the CPS because it says "Home is Where the Hood Is." 185 Chicago schools will be restructured after being branded as "chronic failures" by the federal No Child Left Behind law.
