Morning Box Score:NIU Falls To Ball State

NIU came up short against the Ball State Cardinals on Tuesday, losing 60-54. The Huskies led by seven at the break, but could only cobble together 20 points in the second half as their lead slipped away. Poor free-throw shooting didn't help, as the Huskies missed 12 of 20 from the stripe. Despite the lack of offensive production, NIU hung tough until the final minutes. The Huskies' Darion Anderson led both squads in points and co-led in rebounds, with 16 and eight respectively. Now midway through the season, NIU stands at 5-9. more ›

The Huskies got a national television audience all to themselves Wednesday night on ESPN but made the least of it, getting blown out by MAC leader No. 17 Ball State 45-14. The Cardinals took a 21-0 lead to halftime and Northern Illinois struck first in the second half, but Ball State overwhelmed the Huskies with 24 consecutive points to put the game well out of reach. The Huskies managed to gain just 275 yards of total offense while Ball State racked up 529 total yards. The loss knocks the Huskies out of contention for a shot at the MAC Western division title, but at 5-4, a bowl is still not out of reach. Think positive, Huskie fans. more ›

Ah, simpler times. Every year at this time, my dad breaks out his vinyl copy of the drama and plays it; you can imagine how warping it was to me at a young age to here the drama without knowing the back story.
