It's going to be gorgeous this weekend but might rain tonight, so grab your umbrella before heading out. Just in case. The The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 1 million cribs today after a Trib investigation linked the cribs to the deaths of three children. Congressman Jerry Weller (R-Morris) won't be running for an eighth term because he wants to spend more time with his family. Not because he's been named one of the...

Is Daley building an "elitist city"? Dorothy Brown, mayoral challenger, thinks so. A gunman opened fire at Pizza Nova in Little Village. Three teens were shot, one was killed. If you're going to adopt some kids you might want to make sure you're married first, or at least make sure your name is on the papers. Otherwise, you've probably got no custody rights when you and your girlfriend break up. Lovie Smith had a...

Outside of iPods in the gym, it’s rare that physical fitness and rock and roll intersect. Frankly, Chicagoist prefers it this way, as the results can be a bit dicey. Sure there’s punk rock aerobics, but there’s also sweatin’ to the oldies.

Next March, Bill Rancic's contract to over see construction of the Trump Tower is done and the Apprentice winner says he'll finally stop pretending like he's actually doing some work over there. He's leaving before the project is done, but really.. who honestly believes he's overseeing the Trump Tower construction anyway?

Chicagoist leapt for joy a while back when we heard that superstar architect Santiago Calatrava was working on Lake Shore Drive residential highrises - but we had no idea just how high those rises would be. The Fordham Company, the developer of high-end residential real estate properties that is pushing this project forward, is expected to announce today a proposed $500 million building that would be the country's tallest, nearing 1,500 feet at its habitable...

Chicagoist's best friend in New York used to room with Alex Michael from the first season of The Bachelor. Aside from being really arrogant and self-centered, Alex spent every waking moment riding out his 15 minutes of reality TV fame. Calling girls on their birthday, making special appearances, etc. And since we like never hear of Bill Rancic actually working on the Trump Tower, but always hear about him doing promos and charity events, we're guessing that's what his deal is too.

Chicagoist was really looking forward to the hot stone massage we scheduled. Not to go into too much personal detail, but we seemed to have started to get a little high blood pressure lately, and thought getting regular massages might be a good way to relieve some tension and relax a little more. Our dad thinks the high blood pressure is genetic, but in reality, we got it the old fashioned way…we earned it. So imagine our irritation after checking in for the massage when we are told that the massage therapist had called in sick and our appointment was cancelled. Smoke actually emanated from our ears. “We tried to call you earlier, but figured you must have left your house already.” Caller ID is a great thing…when we got home, we saw that they had called 24 minutes before the appointment. Nice. If it had been the other way around, we would have been charged for the appointment. They had asked if we wanted them to check their suburban locations for openings, because nothing is more relaxing than sitting in traffic for an hour before and after a nice massage. Storming back to the parking garage we got madder and madder. To top it off, we used the garage near the Sun Times crater, and the jackhammers added to the already pleasant day, not to mention, no Bill Rancic in sight (Bill, call us!). We needed something to punch. How about bread?

Hey menfolk: have you got style? Do you press your pocket squares each and every evening, and hand-fray your tattered jeans into a delightfully distressed oblivion? Do you starch your designer underwear, and use the word "Dockers" as an expletive?

This week Chicagoist turns one year old. What a year it's been. We can hardly even believe it's been so long. Time flies when you're.... blogging!

CNN American Morning is on the road this week, broadcasting live from Chicago. Today they're on the corner of Wacker/Wabash. With the temperature in the 50s and the rain outside, we're sure that Soledad is thrilled to be back from her maternity leave.

Big article in the Trib today about Bill Rancic's house. We'd pretend like we're not interested but…come on, real estate pornography is where it's at.

Kevin Allen, a University of Chicago law student, has been chosen for the second season of The Apprentice, along with 17 others. We're hoping that Chicago will sweep the show and that Kev will be the next Bill Rancic... even though it doesn't seem like Bill is really actually doing much on Trump Tower.

Chicagoan Jen Schefft has been selected to be the star of ABC's The Bachelorette 3. Jen was the winner of season 3 of The Bachelor when Andrew Firestone proposed to her. Not surprisingly the couple broke up. An interesting side note is that Chicagoan and Trump Apprentice Bill Rancic had been under consideration for Andrew's roll on The Bachelor 3. Also, Bill and Jen dated after Jen and Andrew broke off their engagement. Whether you've...

to the stars, is taking a lot of flak for his renovations to 1034 North Wolcott, a property he owns in East Village. Rancic purchased the two-flat and coach house back in 2002 for $435,000, according to the Sun-Times, but the coach house burned down about a year later. When he began rebuilding it, neighbors got extremely pissed. New construction of coach houses is illegal, though its not illegal to rebuild them. Hello? Thats like a hipsters natural habitat, the rehabbed coach house. Neighbor Christy Webber claims that not only does Rancic lack the appropriate permits for his job, but also that such a lack contributed to the fire.

The Apprentice, Bill Rancic, will start apprenticing this Sunday, flying to New York to learn about real estate and wheeling and dealing from the Donald and his organization. Rancic will be back in Chicago after a month. Chicagoist hopes that Rancic will forget any lessons in haircare he gets personally from the Donald - unless it's about getting rid of the flat top.
