DePaul's expressed a desire to hire a high profile name in the hopes of returning their men's basketball program to prominence after a prolonged period of poor play, but thus far is having a bit of trouble filling its coaching vacancy. However, Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto would be best to ignore any job application emails, screen all calls and generally avoid any contact with one well known name. NBA Hall of Famer and Chicago native Isiah Thomas has expressed interest in coaching the Blue Demons, according to a source close to the former Pistons star.

Wainwright to Depart DePaul
DePaul has called a press conference for 11 a.m. this morning to address the future of the school's basketball program and it's expected that the main announcement will be the departure of Jerry Wainwright. The Blue Demons are 7-8 so far this season, and have opened their Big East conference play with an 0-3 record. But his firing had been rumored since last spring, after the Blue Demons finished their conference schedule 0-18 as they stumbled to an overall 9-24 record.

NIT Action Coming to Lincoln Park Tonight
The DePaul Blue Demons will tip off against the Hofstra Pride tomorrow night in the 2007 MasterCard National Invitational Tournament (NIT). This will be the Blue Demons’ 16th appearance in the tournament; they won the tournament in 1945 but have failed to make it to the final four since 1983.

Leitao Leaves DePaul for Virginia
DePaul men's basketball coach Dave Leitao is expected to announce he is leaving DePaul to coach at Virginia. He returned to Chicago with an offer in hand and was expected to make a public announcement after speaking with his Blue Demon players. His new deal is supposedly worth $1.2 million plus incentives that could take it higher -- double his current $600,000 deal at DePaul.
