With all the local hoopla over the just released Public Enemies, filmed largely in the Chicagoland area, how would the movie actually do cash-wise against some stiff competition? The answer: solid but nothing Dark Knight-level earth-shattering. A bunch of mammoths and robots outdueled the John Dillinger flick at the box office. Public Enemies wound up taking in around $26.2 million for the weekend and has grossed just over $41 million since its July 1 release.
