Fantasy Football Week 8: Wandering the Waiver Wire
Big Ten Football Preview
The college football season kicks off this weekend, and Chicagoist can't wait! This is Big Ten country, so we thought we'd take a look at the conference and make our predictions. While the Big Ten is shaping up to be a major football powerhouse this season, the two Illinois schools don't figure to draw much attention. Illinois went 3-8 (1-7 conf.) last year, costing Ron Turner his job. Ron Zook, who lost his job...
Cedric Comes to Chicago, Still No Deal
Chicagoist has been pretty clear that were we stand on the Cedric Benson holdout. His holdout has now reached 32 days, he's missed 3 preseason games and he hasn't even spoken to the Bears in 11 days. Late this afternoon, news broke that Benson had come to Chicago and met with Bears GM Jerry Angelo. Talks ended with no progress, however. The fact that Benson has put his new Lake Forest home on the market...
Did the Bears Make a Mistake Drafting Benson?
Chicagoist wonders whether the Bears did enough homework on first round draft pick Cedric Benson before selecting him with the 4th pick in last spring's NFL Draft. While he demonstrated his tremendous talent on the field while at the University of Texas, his recent behavior leads Chicagoist to question whether somebody else may have been a better fit for the Bears. The Bears training camp ended the other day, and it ended with Benson still...
Bears Pick 4th in NFL Draft

By virtue of yet another pathetic season, the Bears have the 4th pick in the draft behind only San Francisco, Miami and Cleveland. The Bears needs are most prevalent on offense, so Chicagoist expects the Bears to take either a running back or wide receiver...
Bears Make Nice Catch
Just hours after his release from the Carolina Panthers (who didn't want to pay a $10 million roster bonus), the Bears pulled off a major coup when they agreed to a deal with All Pro wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad. His deal, which guarantees at least $12 million, could be worth up to $30 million over 6 years. Muhammad caught 93 passes last season for 1,405 yards and 16 touchdowns. And that was after fellow WR...
With the 4th Pick...
Another painful Bears season wrapped up Sunday, with the Packers avenging their earlier loss 31-14. In the rout, the Packers tied a team record with 9 sacks. And the Packers, having already locked up the NFC North title, mostly played their backups. Packers QB Brett Favre sat after the Pack took a 14-7 lead in the 2nd quarter. No matter, they still killed the Bears.
