Today's Weather: Brisk

We awake to find yesterday's clouds and cool air still in place over the city. But there should be some breaks in the clouds here and there and peeks of sun along with the slightest of chances of a passing shower. Northwest winds of around 15 mph keep things brisk and highs, once again, won't break 60. Clouds break tonight, though, as lows drop into the upper 40s and we should see an improvement in the temperatures and the amount of sun tomorrow.

Today's Weather: Brisk

The chill will continue today in spite of sunny skies; highs will only reach the lower 20s and a constant, brisk 15-20 mph wind will keep it pretty nippy outside. It'll be clear and continued cold tonight with lows in the lower teens. But keep hope alive, all, for a midweek warm-up will send temps into the lower 40s by Wednesday.

Brisk is an understatement. We've got a fresh coupla inches of snow on the ground at the Chicagoist office with some flurries still piling a bit more on top of that. The snow will taper off as the afternoon wears and while temps will be in the low-to-mid 30s - much warmer than yesterday - it's going to be windy, bringing down the wind chills. Clouds will break later this afternoon and temps will plummet to single digits under partly cloudy skies tonight. If it feels colder than usual for December, that's because it is: Skilling Says, "Though cold air is no stranger here this time of year, only 25 years of the past 139 have seen readings as cold as in recent days so early in the season."

Today dawns cloudy and cool with a few lingering showers in the morning before the clouds break a bit and maybe Mr. Sun gives us a peek or two this afternoon with highs in the mid 50s. Partly cloudy skies hover overhead tonight as temps dip into the upper 30s.
