Chicagoist knows it's old news that Ben Wallace agreed to a deal with the Bulls, but we breathed a huge sign of relief today when Wallace officially signed his deal and appeared with Bulls GM John Paxon and coach Scott Skiles. That combination of always fearing the worst we Chicago sports fans suffer, combined with the nearly two week period between when teams and free agents can begin negotiations and when they can sign deals, had us feeling uneasy. Could Big Ben change him mind? Could he decide to stay with the Pistons? Could something go horribly wrong with the estimated salary cap that wouldn't give the Bulls the cap space they anticipated? Bulls Blink First, Trade Curry to Knicks
Contract negotiations between the Bulls and Eddy Curry had remained at a standstill most of the off-season, as the Bulls requested that Curry take a DNA test before they clear him to play while Curry and his agent refused. With Monday's deadline for signing qualifying contracts for the 05-06 season, the Bulls traded Curry to the Knicks when they couldn't get Curry to agree to the DNA test.
