The Illinois State Senate narrowly passed a public-works bill, which includes plans for a Chicago casino. The bill also gives the CTA $200 million in the form of a one-year loan to tide us over until the next crisis. Now on to the House, where this bill will totally die.

We couldn't help but notice that The Hood Internet boys just continue to collect accolades tumbling their way. Pitchfork loves them. Very Short List digs 'em. USA Today grooves to them. Heck, even the CBC is singing their praises! The art of the mash-up has been largely on the wane over the past year or so, but these wild upstarts from the mean streets of Chicago have injected brand new life into the art form...

Who's this Conrad Black, and why is he on trial again? The local media is cranking up its hype machine for a trial that has people around the world excited, but leaves many Chicagoans scratching their heads and saying, "Lord Who?"
