Chicago Uncommon is auctioning off a bunch of prints at 50% off. 11x14 prints begin at $25 and 16x20 prints begin at $35. The auction will run through Thursday and the prints that are up for auction were created for the Chicago Uncommon 2004 exhibit that took place over the summer. But don't worry - that doesn't mean they're beat up or anything. The prints are in perfect condition and are mounted on heavy matboard backing. On the backing is a fishline wire so they're totally ready for hanging. If you want you can frame the prints, but we're lazy so we're totally psyched that they're being sold ready to hang.
Being one of our favorite photoblogs, Chicagoist was very interested in the article the Trib did recently on Dawn Mikulich and her website, Chicago Uncommon. We finally learned what camera she uses (6.3 megapixel Canon EOS 10D digital camera), what she carries it around in (a discreet Crumpler bag) and what her editing methods are (minor color/contrast adjustment before posting).
Dawn Mikulich, whose site Chicago Uncommon is one of Chicagoist's very favorites, has 30 photographs now on exhibit at the J. Ira & Nicki Harris Family Hostel as part of the city of Chicago's Embrace Art in Chicago Summer 2004 promotion. For more info, please visit 877 Chicago.
