Your Morning Wake-Up Call for May 20, 2011
We're sorely tempted to play hooky today, that's how nice it is outside right now. If you're along the lakefront right now, what there is around is lifting and the day will be mostly clear with a high near 75 degrees. Last year on this date Chicago policeman Thomas Wortham IV was shot and killed. The R. Kelly child pornography trial got underway on this date three years ago. And Chicago Camerooinans celebrate that nation's Independence Day. Nice day to do that.
Today's Weather: Coming Correct
There is nothing like a good night's sleep to get you untracked. Old man here nodded off at 8 p.m. last night and the next thing, the alarm was going off this morning. It can only be a good sign that that it's a good day in the offing. Anyway, the White Sox home opener is today and, living close to the ballpark as we do, we've got the windows hoping and hoping for the sounds of fireworks in the distance with every home run and a White Sox winner. Which we hope to hear a lot of this season. The weather is supposed to be agreeable today: cloudy with a high in the mid-50s.
Today's Weather: Morning Showers
Good Morning, everyone. Don't let the gray skies outside get you down this morning.Even though they're sticking around, there is a promise of rain this morning to go with a projected high of 56 (61 in Skilling-speak). It's actually going to feel like the weather is in the mid-40s throughout the day. Then the wind shifts in from the east, cooling things along the lakefront and downtown. If you're heading to Wrigley Field (where good seats are still available; yesterday's attendance was 27,039) bring rain gear.
Today's Weather: Happy
Today's projected high of 56 degrees is supposedly the highest temperature in the area since March 21. We don't care about the high, though. What we care about is all the sunshine that we're going to get today. Enjoy it while you can because the rain and clouds come back with emphasis tomorrow.
Today's Weather: Slowly it Turns
Today's forecast makes a nice bookend to how the month starts, with a projected high of 48 degrees, some clouds and light winds. In between the weather has ranged from wintry to beautiful previews of the spring to come. We may be in for some freezing rain overnight. Aside from that, we'll be dancing our way into April tonight.
Today's Weather: Mist
Welcome to a gray and rainy midweek, readers. Looks like the clouds and the precipitation are going to stay with us through tomorrow. Today we should expect everywhere from hard thunderstorms this morning to lighter showers in the late afternoon, before we see a return of snow in the evening. The high is expected to be 47 degrees. Now ask yourselves what we did to deserve this weather.
Today's Weather: Dull
Here we are, the penultimate week in March and the weather today is 15 degrees above normal; today's projected high is 63. But the theme of the week seems to be clouds, they'll be rolling in later today along with an increased chance of rain for most of the week, leading to Thursday's expected return of snow. Don't put away the boots just yet.
Today's Weather: Generous
If you've tuned up your bikes, today would be a good day for a ride. the sun should be out most of the day with a high of 53. Just fun weather today to be enjoyed.
Today's Weather
Top o' the morning and all that other stuff! Open the windows again: we're due for the warmest St. Patrick's Day in Chicago in two years today with a projected high of 70 degrees. The downside? There isn't going to be much sun. Someone in this city must have pissed off a leprechaun.
Today's Weather: Luminous
Happy Monday, folks. And break out the light jackets today because it's what we call "Baby Bear weather outside" just right. It's mostly sunny today with a high of 42 degrees. The winds coming out of the south only make things better today. Except for some thunderstorms expected Thursday, the week will only get better.
Today's Weather: Pluvious
Bring an umbrella today, people. We're supposed to get rain all day. The heaviest of the showers is expected early this afternoon before they scatter late, with a high of 45. the rain is expected to turn into a light dusting of snow by daybreak tomorrow.
More Thawing. More Falling Ice
Last week it was Willis Tower where we had to keep an eye out for falling ice. Today, it's the Hancock Center. Streets have been closed around the skyscraper after reports of falling ice. Traffic was shut down on East Delaware Place between Michigan and Wabash. No injuries have been reported thus far.
