Friday Afternoon Diversion

While fratboys the land over used yesterday's Cinco De Mayo holiday as an excuse to drink even more cheap beer than usual and then hit on girls wearing tiny sombreros, this cat celebrated it in style. more ›

Cinco de Mayo Events Roundup

Cinco de Mayo Events Roundup

In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo commemorates an unlikely military victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla. North of the still-free-to-cross border (offer may not be valid in Arizona), liquor distributors and bars regard Cinco de Mayo as "Mexican St. Patrick's Day." Simply replace Guinness with Mexican beer, Irish whiskey with tequila, corned beef with taquitos...you get the idea. more ›

Properly Sauced: El Diablo

Cinco de Mayo is just around the bend so we'd like to introduce you to an old friend of ours, El Diablo. You may already know his foreign cousin, Suffering Bastard. El Diablo comes off as the quiet younger brother to his more popular sister Margarita, but he's no shrinking violet. He's at his best during the long, hot days and nights of summer. We guarantee that you'll want to invite him to your barbecues and picnics again and again. more ›

Release the Stars is due out May 15 – plenty of time to learn all the new songs to swoon to... more ›

This week's theme: Cinco de Mayo. More specifically, the Anglicized version of Cinco de Mayo. Let's get on with it. Everyone Has An Opinion: In conjunction with National Hamburger Month, the folks at Yelp! have released a thoroughly underwhelming list of their top five places to get a burger in town. The site that brings together user reviews of all the "hidden gems, hot spots, and amazing small businesses you've never heard of or fanatically... more ›

By the time you read this, Chicagoist will be in a New York state of mind. We'll be catching up with old friends, eating a slice of "Original Simply Famous Really There Can Be Only One" Ray's pizza, gawking at David Blaine's "douchebag in utero" performance art piece - "douchebag" being the word of the week around here - and sniffing out a bar with a wide selection of premium tequilas. This week's primer on... more ›
