City Sticker Deadline Approaches

The grace period for getting your vehicle's city sticker is quickly approaching. Friday, actually. After that, the $70 sticker will cost you a Blockbuster-esque $40 in late fees. Enforcement begins August 1 and if you're caught without a sticker you could be facing a $120 ticket or the violation. City Sticker Winner Announced

If you're a driver in Chicago, get used to the image to the right because you'll be seeing a lot of it soon. The image is by 16-year-old Lookman Muhammed, a junior at Lawrence Hall's Therapeutic Day School, and it's been selected as the winner in the city's annual city sticker contest. Lookman was up against several other talented young artists from around the city but city drivers voted his design a cut above the rest. And the rest includes over 300 students from 39 city schools. Lookman was also a finalist in last year's design contest as well. Congrats! more ›

The unions aren't the only folks facing a deadline; Chicagoans in need of a city sticker have through midnight tomorrow to get in on the act and grab their new city sticker to avoid late fees ($40) and tickets ($120). Our pal The Parking Ticket Geek has a suggestion or two for those of you who have waited til the final few hours. New City Sticker Picked

Not too long ago we ran down the final submissions for the 2009-2010 city sticker contest. Finally, a winner has been announced and it's Denise Ferguson, a senior at Corliss High School. There were entries from more than 350 high school students at 43 different schools around the city, but Denise's design (seen above) was paws and tails above the rest. More than 25,000 votes were cast at the City's website and Denise will receive a $1,000 bond. Oh, and having something she drew placed on over a million cars in the area. Congrats, Denise! more ›
