Ah, Monday. Time to reflect on the weekend that was ... and what better way to reminisce than to scour Craigslist Missed Connections? We're trying out a new weekly feature here at Chicagoist called "Monday Missed Connections," where we dig through the postings from all those lonely hearts out there and highlight the most deserving, interesting, funny or fantastic MCs. This week we're going to keep it music-centric, and we've searched for the weekend's concerts,...

When Tim Kasher isn't busy fronting the band Cursive and writing screenplays, he's penning songs and touring with his other project, The Good Life. The band began as a side project of sorts, but now has noted two albums under its belt: 2004's heart-wrenching The Album of the Year, which narrates a romantic-turned-nasty two-year relationship, and the recently released Help Wanted Nights, which actually serves as a soundtrack to Kasher's play of the same name....

Well, we've already tried to hip you to tonight's free show at The Bottle, put there are plenty of other concerts to spend your time (and money) at this week.

It's a fifteenth birthday party for Bettie Serveert! Haven't heard that name in a while? Since Belly and Superchunk were the bands of the day and Palomine came out? Well, relive the heyday of college radio with a show on Thursday night at the Abbey Pub.

Hopefully, they’ll be more energized at Metro tonight, and you won’t have to worry about getting elbowed by a hippie-with-no-rhythm like at their previous sold-out Schuba’s shows. Tuesday, Metro, 9 p.m., $16, 18+. This week’s award for Best Band Name goes to local band Let’s Get Out of This Terrible Sandwich Shop. That wouldn’t be enough to recommend...

But when you’re looking at something from close-up, you forget that it often looks different from far away. So if you page through Blender's 5th Anniversary issue this month, you’ll see a much different crowd representing Chicago.

Last night Chicagoist headed over to the Double Door for a night of eclectic and cheap music. Not knowing what to expect, except that our friend The Rich Experience (look him up at myspace.com) would be playing a couple of his classics as an opener, we went in with an open mind to hear some of Chicago's lesser known bands.

Day 1 of Intonation offered several acts worth mentioning. Chicagoist's faves on Saturday were Head of Femur who hang with depressive indie god Conor Oberst and have opened for Wilco, Magnolia Electric Co. who emulate the Old 97s Fight Songs era, and Four Tet who is a mad mixer and got the evening rolling for all the acts following him. Day 2 of Intonation definitely had more excitement and buzz surrounding it. From the...
