Tomorrow's Tax Day and with it comes Chicago's very own Tea Party. At noon at Daley Plaza, the Tea Party Patriots Chicago will launch their second-annual demonstration under the theme of "Repeal It. Replace Congress," while featuring "national known speakers, local liberty leaders and regular Americans" in addition to some live rock, blues and country music. Last year's Tax Day rally drew hundreds of demonstrators to the Loop, including the man pictured, in addition to many suburban protesters in Naperville. more ›

The last time we checked in with those crazy kids at Westboro Baptist Church, they were losing the battle to the awesome counter-protest held at the University of Chicago. Today, the church made a return trip with a busy itinerary that included a stop over at the Don Rickles show and several synagogues, including Emanuel Congregation and Or Chadash in Edgewater. The Edgewater Community Religious Association decided to hold their own peaceful counter-protest. What today's counter-protest at Emanuel lacked in nerd humor it made up for with sincerity and good will. Local social media guru Leah Jones, who happens to be a member at Emmanuel, was there for the protest/counter-protest, taking pictures and wrote up her experience. more ›
