When last we visited City Provisions, the north side temple of all things local and/or meaty, we heard whispers about a forthcoming Meat CSA or farm share program. The program is official, the details are here, and you can buy it now. Based on the meat we ate there and the skills of the people in the kitchen, it's going to be a heck of a deal.
City Provisions Launches Meat Share
Try Produce Delivery from Door to Door Organics
We love CSAs and farm shares, but sometimes they can be a bit hard to manage. If you don't eat enough produce fast enough or if you are gone for weeks at a time on business, a farm share can pile up and rot in your refrigerator or be hard to get delivered at all. If you are looking for a convenient, flexible way to get organic produce delivered right to your door, for a reasonable price, try Door-to-Door Organics, which started operations in Chicago in October. Even better, as a special gift to Chicagoist readers, after the jump you can find a discount code good for 40% off.
Simple Cooking: Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti
Our weekly CSA deliveries are coming to a close, but there has been no shortage of squash in the final parcels. Our kitchen counter holds five butternut squash, three acorn squash and, this week, one bright yellow spaghetti squash. We grabbed our newest squash family member as the centerpiece for a meatless Monday entrée.
Veggie Bingo Canceled For September
Veggie Bingo, the popular Wednesday event at Hideout where a CSA of produce from a local farm is awarded as a prize for playing bingo, among other prizes, has canceled its September events.
The Localvore Challenge Didn't Have to End Last Month
Joining a Community Supported Agriculture program is a great way to cut out the middleman and get just a little bit closer to your food supply.
