Yes, you read that headline correctly. Despite aisles and aisles of lights, ornaments, candy, artificial trees, wrapping paper, brownie gift sets, and plastic hot cocoa mugs in all their stores, according to the American Family Association, Walgreens is guilty of marginalizing Christmas. That is, Walgreens "refers to Christmas infrequently, or in a single advertising medium, but not in others." But shame on CVS (who, truth be told, we've always kinda hated, since they strangle people). That drugstore gets slammed altogether. "Company may use 'Christmas' sparingly in a single or unique product description, but as a company, does not recognize it," concludes the AFA.

The family of Anthony Kyser, the shoplifting suspect who was strangled to death by an employee last weekend, has filed a lawsuit against the company and the employee.
CVS Shoplifter Strangled Over Toothpaste
A shoplifter at the CVS Pharmacy in the Little Village neighborhood got more than he bargained for after boosting tubes of toothpaste from the store shelves. According to the Sun-Times, Anthony Kyser entered the CVS on the 2600 block of South Pulaski on Saturday morning and placed items in his jacket. Employees noticed the theft, and chased Kyser into the alley behind the store where he was caught. Witnesses say one employee, later identified as a store manager, put Kyser into a chokehold while three other men restrained him. When police arrived on the scene, they found him unconscious, and Kyser was declared dead 45 minutes later at Mount Sinai Hospital.
It's Back: The Obama Chia Pet Returns
It was too controversial for Walgreens to carry so now CVS is stepping up to fill the Obama Chia Pet void. The Sun-Times spoke to Joseph Enterprises Inc. president Joseph Pedott about the...gift? And he claims to have the support of the Commander-in-Chief himself.
Woman Charged in November CVS Kidnapping
The Northwest Side woman who had allegedly kidnapped a three-year-old girl from a CVS pharmacy in the Avondale neighborhood last month has been formally charged. Forty-four year old Jeanette Roldan is scheduled for arraignment on December 29 at the Cook County Criminal Court for aggravated kidnapping. One month ago today, three-year-old Sana Patel walked out of the CVS at 3311 N. Pulaski at about 2:30 p.m. with Roldan, who had been talking with the child as evidenced by security camera tapes for that date. On a police tip, the girl was found at about 9:20 p.m. that evening in an alley near Kostner and Wellington. Luckily, little Sana Patel was found safe and unharmed. -- By Amy Wilschke
