Rev. Jesse Jackson? Meet Cannibal Corpse. Cannibal Corpse? Meet Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Via Metal Sucks comes the unusually subdued meeting between two titans of their respective fields. There's Cannibal Corpse, the long-running Buffalo-based death metal group known for their appearance in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and for their blistering beats, growling vocals and gore-drenched lyrical imagery. And then there's the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who's know for his furious double-tapping guitar shredding civil rights activism and political career, both of which have roots in Chicago. How did these two meet? more ›

Fair Warning

Fair Warning

Tonight the Axl Rose freak show currently known as Guns N' Roses hits Chicago. We know the following from their tour thus far: Axl has booted Eagles Of Death Metal from the bill, but decided to keep on the half-naked antics of the Suicide Girls and the half-baked antics of Sebastian Bach*. Axl will not hit the stage until at least two hours after the conclusion of the last opening act. And that’s if he’s... more ›

Amongst... more ›

An Escape From Holiday Cheer

An Escape From Holiday Cheer

When the holiday spirit has become too much, when you’ve had it with the retail hordes on Michigan Avenue, you’re through with cutesy cartoon characters, and you swear you’ll flip if you hear another celebrity Christmas album, it’s time to step back and indulge your darker and more prurient interests. The holidays are oh so temporary, but art endures, even if these nice and naughty exhibitions are closing soon. more ›

An In-Store To Die For

An In-Store To Die For

We always enjoy an in-store performance by a band. We’re always impressed by an in-store performance by a band in a store other than a record store. We’re actively salivating at the announcement of an in-store performance by Queens Of The Stone Age at the soon-to-be-vacated Belmont Army Surplus store tonight. more ›
