Well, sort of. It was a bizarre scene at City Hall today. South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, in town to give a speech on gun violence, attended Daley's press conference today. When a reporter asked Mayor Daley how many times he had flown on a private jet owned by EduCap, as alleged last week, Daley replied, “Once or twice, we pointed that out. Yes, you’ve got all the facts on that." EduCap funded the Academy of Achievement, which happened to pay the Mayor's wife, Maggie, a sizable amount of money for help in 2006 and 2007. Daley than began pontificating on the Academy and, eventually, Tutu felt compelled to respond. Here's how the exchange went down, via the Trib's Clout Street.

While Governor Blagojevich was announcing the first in his series of "Rewrite to do Right" bills on Wednesday, he lashed out at House Speaker Mike Madigan and Mayor Daley for not helping him push his agenda. "They are all talking out of the same music book, I mean they are all talking out of the same song sheet that was written by Mike Madigan," Blagojevich said. He continued:

"You know, we did a little homework and we found out some of the things that he said when Governor Thompson was governor and Governor Edgar was governor, the same things he says now he was saying back then. These are just tactics. They are tactics, they are politics, it’s the games they play and that's why it’s so frustrating and so disappointing that you would screw with the lives of people because you have your own political agenda."

South Africa's Moral Conscience, archbishop Desmond Tutu, was in Chicago yesterday to speak about human dignity and help raise funds for Community Support Services, an organization for the developmentally disabled. He also posed for a photo op before the event with Chicago's finest, Barbara Daley and Michael Jordan's mother, Deloris. There's video of his speech here.
