Tribune Loses Dick Tracy Lawsuit To Warren Beatty
Naperville To Erect Dick Tracy Statue
Billy Williams and velociraptors aren't the only statues in the news. This weekend, Naperville will dedicate a nine-foot tall statue of cartoon crime fighter Dick Tracy, the newest addition to the town's riverwalk along the DuPage River. But why will a 2,000 pound bronze statue of Dick hover over the townspeople? Because a man who's been an integral part of the comic strip over the last 50 years lives in Naperville. According to the Tribune:
Trib and Beatty Battle Over Dick Tracy
Actor Warren Beatty is is a pissing match with Tribune Media Services, a subsidiary of the Tribune Company, over usage rights for police detective Dick Tracy. He purchased the rights in 1985 to produce and star in the 1990 Oscar-winning Dick Tracy movie.

Warren Beatty vs. The Tribune
Chicagoist doesn’t mind sequels. Superman II was a formative experience for us, The Empire Strikes Back was awesome and hell, we even liked Rush Hour II. But then there are the sequels that no one seems to be asking for. Like Highlander II. And a sequel to Dick Tracy.
