Wednesday Afternoon Diversion: Michelle Does the Dougie

Wednesday Afternoon Diversion: Michelle Does the Dougie

Last year, in the dark days of December, it seemed like nobody (except Cali Swag) knew how to do the Dougie. Today, though, First Lady Michelle Obama is all over the internet showing the nation that she knows how to get down - doing the Dougie and the Running Man at Alice Dean Middle School. It's all part of her "Let's Move!" campaign, to encourage American children to exercise and be healthier. We call it awesome. more ›

Humpday Afternoon Diversion: Alex Trebek Calls College Football Game Highlights

Do a Youtube search for Jeopardy host Alex Trebek and you'll get videos of varying quality, from Trebek cursing while recording commercial drops to spazzing out during episodes of Jeopardy. Some are gems, some are crap. Here is the creme de la creme. Deadspin posted this yesterday from another website, Solid Verbal, which takes sound bites from Trebek and puts them over highlights from a college football game. If ESPN would hire Trebek to actually do this once, we'd actually watch Sportscenter again more ›

Thursday Diversion: Another Childrens Movie Adaptation

We've mentioned the Where The Wild Things Are film adaptation and its upcoming Chicago screening/ fundraiser (a few VIP tickets are still available). And lucky for us, the folks at LandlineTV created a hell of a great parody of the trailer based on another classic childrens tome and, frankly, we'd totally go see it. more ›

Hump Day Diversion: Eagle Man!

Yesterday, we brought you a trio of cute, cuddly, and funny insurance commercials. But reader "augustkl" took umbrage with our calling the ads the greatest ad campaign of all time, suggesting, instead, that the title was held by the locally produced Eagle Man commercials. After looking at these three ads, we think he may be on to something. Like a John Waters movie crossed with Sesame Street on meth, the Eagle Man commercials make the Empire jingle sound like Tchaikovsky. more ›
