To celebrate the new TV season, TV Guide is sponsoring free coffee at a bevy of area independent coffee shops. We aren't quite sure what connection TV Guide is trying to make here (You need caffeine to stay awake while reading this magazine? If you watched all of last night's shows you might need a little extra boost this morning?), but free coffee is free coffee, so we aren't going to think too hard about...

The dropping temperature and pouring rain didn't stop us from getting excited when we read that three new frozen yogurt places will be opening up in Chicago in the near future. Frozen yogurt? Like TCBY? Yes, but better. This isn't just any fro-yo, as Chicagoist likes to call it. We're talking about Pinkberry (A.K.A Crackberry), which is either the best thing since sliced bread, or a huge crock of marketing shit. Our coastal friends...

Well, after a brief hiatus we are bringing back WJ. This weekend we going to try and enjoy the weather with a few outdoor events. Ending the weekend with some sex wine and chocolate. We are heading over to the 39th annual Sheffield Garden Walk this evening, for a suggested donation of $10 ($6 prior to 5 p.m.) you can take self-guided tour of the 100+ gardens located at Sheffield and Webster. Be sure to...

If you are horrible kids like we are, you won't be able to make it home this weekend to see mum. There will be plenty to do this weekend to keep your mind off of it though. Besides, it's always great to take advantage of the great Mother's Day brunch specials around town. The Pony's will be playing at Looptopia around 8:45 p.m. Looptopia, Chicago's "white-night" like celebration will run from 5 p.m. - 5...

What was formally Bar 13/Mad Jack's Tavern has now become Easy Bar (1944 W. Division St.), the newest endeavor from the team of guys behind Estelle's and AliveOne. When it was Bar 13, the venue was made over for a short-lived A&E show, resulting in Mad Jack's Tavern. Mad Jack's may be gone, but the redesign is still there, with the deep red walls, large framed posters, lounging area in the back and sleek flat...

There is something about the Do-Division site and its marketing that subliminally leads you to all the shopping, dining, and pampering between the Kennedy and Western on Division. We especially like the large sidewalks and excellent boutiques. How about 15% at those boutiques for some holiday shopping?

The spirit of giving just got a little trendier. Wicker Park boutique Habit (1951 W. Division St.) is sponsoring an ongoing charity program, and each month, the store will auction one of its outfits on eBay.

Chicagoist's search for the best Mexican food in the city took an upscale turn with a trip to Old Town favorite Salpicon. Before dining there, we had never even heard of this gem of a restaurant, as whenever we heard "upscale Mexican," we would think of Frontera Grill, Topolobambo, or Adobo Grill. Salpicon is nestled on the south end of Wells, almost to Division St. The night we went it was gray and drizzling outside,...

The art world is getting a little more casual with the arrival of summer. This weekend we’re looking forward to seeing quality work and engaging in stimulating discussion in a more casual environment, and maybe laughing our ass off.

Surely you've already read this New York Times article. Use bugmenot, mentioned in the article, to read it if you haven't already. It's today's number one most e-mailed article from the NYT.

Following the trend set yesterday by Fireside Bowl, Big Wig on Division St. will be closing its doors in September after 7 years of operation. Except they won't be staying open for bowling. (Watch out for their site, it's nasty and plays loud music.)
