At the very least, Chicago metal quartet Bongripper can’t be accused of false advertising. Albums like Hippie Killer and the group’s recently released sixth record, Satan Worshipping Doom, are filled with thick-as-molasses, cannabis-laden mix of doom and trash metal.

DOOMsday At Congress Theater
Several thousand eager hip-hop fans gathered at Congress Theater Saturday night for the sold out, rescheduled January 29 DOOM/Mos Def show. Attendees waited in multiple hour-long will call lines to claim their tickets into what can only be described as organizational and crowd chaos. Fans bided their time for over 5 hours post-doors before the main acts took stage, irritated and putting the opening performers through the ringer with boos and airborne objects.
More Acts Added to 'Fork Fest '09
The Pitchfork Music Festival has added some new action. The lineup for Saturday, July 18 now includes the cerebral indie folk of Beirut, the nice guy Norwegian future-disco of Lindstrøm, DOOM's masked insanity, and hyperactive Baltimore indie rockers Ponytail. The Sunday show, meanwhile, gets Frightened Rabbit (who remind us of a Glaswegian version of the National, which is awesome), The Mae Shi from LA, DJ/Rupture (whose blog is the best), and Chicago veterans Dianogah.
