Anthony was impressed by the food at the Drawing Room when he visited a couple months back and we've always loved the cocktails of Charles Joly and Tim Lacey. Now the Drawing Room and the LUNGevity Foundation have teamed up to raise funds for lung cancer research.

Wine dinners abound throughout the city. 312 Chicago is hosting a dinner tomorrow night at 7 p.m. featuring the latest release from Hewiston Wines' "Mad Hatter" shiraz. It's part of a national tour promoting the 2006 vintage just hitting restaurants and wine shops right now. Winemaker Dean Hewiston will be in attendance.

He will be preparing Somen Noodle Salad, Soba Noodle Cake and Fresh Ramen with Roasted Meat and Broth. You can sip some Japanese beer, take home recipes and will receive a gift. Do This:  Free Wine and Cheese Tasting at Pastoral

Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine will be hosting a free wine and cheese tasting at their Loop location next Wednesday, the 24th, from 5:30-7:30. You can watch Italian cheesemaker Giorgio Cravero use traditional cheese-cutting tools to crack into a wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Then sample the cheese and some Italian wines. This is a great opportunity to learn more about cheesemaking, tasting, and pairing as artisinal cheese expert Daphne Zepos will be in attendance.

They, along with East Hollywood Inc. are sponsoring a Balut Blast. Balut is a delicacy in some Southeast Asian countries: A fertilized duck egg, partially developed. The result looks like this (not for the squeamish). We first saw it on the Discovery channel on a show that featured prostitutes in Thailand having a midnight snack of balut...to make use of its aphrodisiac properties.
