Drew Peterson's Son Speaks for Himself... Through Sneed
We know that Drew Peterson has a receptive soundboard for his thoughts from jail in Sun-times columnist Michael Sneed, who's published his letters from jail before (after they've been edited by Sneed's "confidential source"). Now it looks like another in the Peterson brood has found a personal transcriber in Michael Sneed.
Oak Brook Police Chief: Fire Drew Peterson's Son
While Drew Peterson is doing whatever in Will County Jail probably writing another letter for Michael Sneed to run as a column Oak Brook police chief Thomas Sheahan has filed charges with the village police and fire commission to have Peterson's son, Stephen Peterson, removed from the force.
D-Pete Gun Charge Tossed
Well, Drew Peterson will have one less thing to worry about while awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife. A judge has tossed out the gun charge prosecutors filed against Peterson some time ago, saying, via the Tribune, "Peterson's semiautomatic rifle wasn't protected under a federal law that gives police officers general immunity to own weapons that are illegal under state law." The decision could also help Peterson's son Stephen, an Oak Brook police officer who took in two or three of his father's guns shortly after the disappearance of Drew's fourth wife Stacy. Stephen was suspended after admitting he took in the guns but his attorney said today's decision proves that Stephen did nothing wrong. Charles Hervas, attorney for the Oak Brook police chief, said of Stephen's case, "The internal review continues."
Sun-Times Acts As Drew Peterson's Mouthpiece Again
Okay, this is ridiculous. We felt kind of gray and fuzzy on it the first time around, but now? Once again, "columnist" Michael Sneed has given up an entire column over to republishing a letter from Drew Peterson, currently awaiting his trial for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio and still the prime suspect in the disappearance of wife number four Stacy Peterson. In this letter, Drew makes an "an impassioned media plea on behalf of his children," specifically prosecution (and what Drew alleges is persecution) against oldest son Stephen who is currently the primary caregiver for four of Peterson's kids: two with Savio and two with Stacy. Like the first letter, this one was handed directly from Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky to Sneed and reprinted (the lead-in says it's been "edited" though there's no word if the paper edited the letter or if, like the first one, it was edited by someone else in the Peterson camp before getting to the Sun-Times).
The Drew Peterson Letters
While he awaits his trial for the murder of third wife Kathleen Savio and the search for missing fourth wife Stacy continues, Drew Peterson has found himself with a lot of time on his hands. So he's channeling his time and energy to letter writing, specifically to Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed. The Sun-Times ran their first "installment" of the letters yesterday and the second installment today; the letters were received and edited thusly:
Peterson To Stay In Jail
Even though his trial has been delayed, Drew Peterson will stay in jail. Peterson's trial for the murder of Kathleen Savio (his third wife) has been delayed while prosecutors appeal the judge's decision to keep out many of the hearsay evidence they planned on using. Peterson's defense hoped to get Peterson out of jail after the delay and have promised an appeal of today's decision.
Peterson Trial Delayed
With his trial for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio slated to start Thursday, Drew Peterson has received a reprieve as his trial was delayed. The prosecution is appealing a ruling that tosses out several hearsay statements that were to be used at the trial as evidence against Peterson under the new controversial law passed in 2008. In the meantime, defense attorneys for Peterson have asked for his release from prison.

Search For Stacy Peterson To Resume
Over the weekend, a "jailhouse tip" led authorities to search a farm near Peoria for the remains of Stacy Peterson. So far, the search has resulted in, well, nothing, but it looks like the investigation will resume after taking a break on Sunday. The search could start up again as soon as Tuesday, according to sources. Authorities have already searched a 10-foot-by-10-foot area of land based on the tip. There have also been some disputing of where exactly the tip came from.
Stacy Peterson Search Fruitless
Calling it a search based on "a jailhouse tip," authorities conducted a search for the remains of Stacy Peterson near a farm in Peoria yesterday afternoon. But after a full day of searching, the investigation has, so far, come up empty-handed. David Alwan, on who's property the search was conducted, told the Tribune, "They had pretty solid leads with specific coordinates." Authorities do not consider Alwan connected to the case. Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Tom Burek told the press, "I don't want to stand here and tell you this is the magical lead that's going to solve the case. ... Like any lead we hope that it has a positive outcome. ... I don't want to allude to (the idea that) we're looking for a body. We're looking for evidence of a crime based on this lead that we have."
Illinois State Police Searching for Drew Peterson's Wife
The Chicago Tribune (via ChicagoBreakingNews) and the Chicago Sun-Times are both reporting this morning that Illinois State Police are pursing a lead and conducting a search in Peoria County for Stacy Peterson's remains. TMZ reported that the tip may have come from a fellow inmate of Peterson, who is awaiting trial on the death of his third wife.
D-Pete Trial Delayed
While Blago's last-ditch attempt to delay his trial was turned down today, another high-profile trial has gotten pushed back. Circuit Judge Stephen White has pushed back Drew Peterson's murder trial from a scheduled June 14 start date to July 8 when jury selection will begin. Peterson's attorney had submitted a proposed new date of August 23 but White didn't want such a substantial delay. Peterson is charged with the murder of third wife Kathleen Savio who died under mysterious circumstances in 2004.
Own D-Pete's Motorcycle
If you're in the market for a used motorcycle connected to an infamous ex-husband, Justice Cafe points us to the Harley-Davidson motorcycle currently owned by one Drew Peterson. Yes, that Drew Peterson. The 2007 Screamin' Eagle Softail Springer has been listed on eBay for a starting price of $50,000 which is a steep inflation over the MSRP which happens to be around $25K. Peterson's attorney Joel Brodsky, who's also selling a motorcycle on eBay, insists that it's not only to help cover legal fees, telling Fox Chicago, "First of all, the bike's been sitting there for over a year now...When he gets out he can always buy another one. They're not going to stop selling Harleys." The auction is scheduled to end this Saturday, May 13. Meanwhile, Peterson remains jailed, awaiting his trial for the murder of third wife Kathleen Savio, slated to begin next month.
Peterson Adds To Team
Blago ain't the only one with a trial coming up this summer. Drew Peterson's murder trial is also quickly approaching and he's had a few legal stumbles of his own, losing a pair of attorneys. But now he's trying to even things out as his defense team has two new attorneys. Attorneys Steven A. Greenberg and Ralph E. Meczyk have filed to join Team D-Pete and if they sound familiar, it's because Greenberg represented Brian Dugan and both were involved in the Family Secrets Trial. The trial is scheduled to start June 14.
