$5 ($3 if you're a kid) for a short subject, usually a chapter of a vintage serial, and a feature-length movie: who needs the multiplex anyway? Operated by cinephiles as a non-profit labor of love, Bank of America Cinema at 4901 W. Irving Park presents a stellar lineup of classics and rarities every Saturday night at 7:30pm. This weekend the main attraction is Howard Hughes' notorious "sex Western" The Outlaw, starring Walter Huston, Thomas Mitchell, and Jane Russell's cleavage. Remembering Our Veterans

Originally known as Armistice Day after the First World War, and recognized as Veteran's Day in the United States, today inevitably becomes one of those sort-of holidays when the Post Office closes and the kids stay home from school. But for many Americans, at least one member of their family has served in the Armed Forces, either during peacetime or in combat. After the jump are the memories and stories of some of our family that served. Add your story of family and friends that served or are serving in the comments below. more ›

Family Comes To Patti Blagojevich's Defense

The family of Illinois' First Lady, Patti Blagojevich, has come to her defense in the wake of the charges brought against her husband by federal agents. State Rep./sister Debra Mell, Chicago Alderman (33rd Ward)/ father Dick Mell, and brother Rich Mell sat down with NBC 5 for an interview in which they sought to set the record straight on the woman some media outlets have referred to as "Lady Macbeth." Said sister Deb, "That is not my sister. My sister is a good woman, a good mother, a great friend, my closest friend, that's not my sister, no." Ald. Mell, who's relationship with his daughter has been strained since Mell accused the governor of promising positions in exchange for campaign contributions, said, "This is a pressure cooker that she's living in. And right, wrong, indifferent, whether they put themselves there, I don't know. All I know is what I see...She said, as rough as it is, what happened two years ago when her mother died was harder." The family denied any talk of a federal investigation into Patti's real estate dealings. more ›
