Officials at the Norwegian American Hospital seek federal funding for a new emergency room due to a lack of space in their current one, according to a Chi-Town Daily News report.

Officials said they would put plans for a proposed $1.8 billion program to add green carpool lanes on the tollway -- in addition to an interchange to connect Interstate 57 and the Tri-State Tollway -- on hold Thursday. While tollway directors still support the idea, lower gas prices and the potential use of stimulus funds for interchange work has led them to fall back on pushing the plan forward.

Repair Money on the Way

Gov. Quinn and Mayor Daley announced yesterday that the city of Chicago will be receiving $200 million to repair potholes and make street repairs. The money will be enough for 100 miles of street and bridge repairs. The state is pitching in $40 million, which the City can leverage to get another $150 from the federal government.
