It's not the news most Bears fans wanted to hear today. The Chicago Bears are scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon at 2 p.m. to announce a shake up in the coaching staff but one of those departing will not be head coach Lovie Smith, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter. So we guess the buy-out was too rich for the McCaskeys' blood? Instead, it looks like Lovie will remain in charge but look for a major shake-up amongst the assistants; tight ends coach Rob Boras has already been fired according to the ESPN report. Meanwhile, the Tribune reports a league source as saying the news is equally grim for offensive coordinator Ron Turner who has also been fired. Also getting the boot were offensive line coach Harry Hiestand and quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton. more ›

Remember the crazy story of Robert Maday, the suspect who managed to over-power a pair of investigators, leaving them pantsless, and going (temporarily) on the lam? The fall-out from that incident continues as those two investigators have now been fired. Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton confirmed the firings this morning. In late October, Maday was sentenced to 13 years for several counts of robbery charges (the hearing he was originally en route to when he made his daring September escape). Earlier this week, he pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated hijacking and attempted robbery stemming from the escape attempt. A status hearing has been scheduled for December 23. more ›

No harm, no foul... right? Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon took some heat recently for not sending the team's restricted free agents their offer sheets by the league-designated deadline. The team eventually signed all eight players to contracts anyway and the players' union withdrew its complaint. But the issues isn't over, as reports suggest that the team is expected to announce that Tallon has been fired on Tuesday. He will be replaced by Stan Bowman, who had been assistant general manager under Tallon. more ›
