Fans of local multi-instrumentalist/loop master par excellence Andrew Bird are likely bummed about his Gezelligheid gigs at Chicago's Fourth Presbyterian Church wrapping up yesterday. Should they feel like shelling out additional cash money, though, they can pick up the latest entry in his Fingerlings live series, which is the fourth in total.

Andrew Bird Adds Third Gezelligheid Show
A couple weeks back we announced that our beloved Andrew Bird would be bringing his Gezelligheid series to Fourth Presbyterian Church for two shows December 16 and 17. Tickets went on sale last Saturday and, as expected, sold out with lightning speed. If you've found yourself ticket-less and heartbroken, cheer up kiddo, because Bird has added a third show to his Chicago residency for Wednesday, December 15.
Andrew Bird's Gezelligheid Shows Return
A big stir of excitement in the office today as Andrew Bird has announced a pair of new Gezelligheid shows for this December at Fourth Presbyterian Church. Several members of the staff attended last year's set of shows and it was, in a word, amazing. The intimate shows featured Bird playing solo, focusing on instrumentals that used loops, and given the amazing setting of the church on a cold winter night, the shows were pure bliss. Presale tickets for the pair of Chicago shows is currently active to hop to it. General on sale for the public is this Saturday.
Andrew Bird's Entrancing Gezelligheid
O.K., we'll admit we've been spoiled rotten by Andrew Bird this year. We've seen multiple times in tiny clubs in both Chicago and D.C. We've seen him so much we were actually worried we were going to suffer Bird burnout, and then he goes and draws us back in with night two of his stunning Gezelligheid solo shows at Fourth Presbyterian Church last night.
Get Intimate with Andrew Bird
Our beloved Andrew Bird is coming home to Chicago next week to end his long U.S. tour. This time around, he's playing the Fourth Presbyterian Church for a series of four shows built around the concept of Gezelligheid, a Dutch term that loosely translates to "coziness." Bird will be performing solo, concentrating mostly on instrumental violin pieces. He'll use ambient lighting in place of the church's overhead lighting, and he'll completely abandon the traditional P.A. system, instead amplifying his sound through the giant horns that usually accompany him on stage. Along with the church's gorgeous carved stone interior and Gothic revival architecture, this promises to be an unforgetabe and intimate experience.
4th Pres. Reaches For The Heavens
You know that really pretty church across the street from the John Hancock Building? Yeah, that one. Well, the folks who belong to the Fourth Presbyterian Church voted 611-173 yesterday to approve sale of land behind the church for the construction of a 64-story condominium. In return the church gets $25 million, and use of the first six floors for various church outreach programs. Chicagoist first brought this story to you two weeks ago, and since then neighborhood groups surrounding Fourth Pres. have started to heat up.
New Building On Michigan Ave? Say a Prayer
Of course, the project is being met with a decent amount of bitching. The presidents of the Streeterville Organization of Active Residents and the Connors Park Neighborhood Coalition have complained that the proposed structure is too big and will cause further congestion on the already miserable Michigan Ave.
Chicago River Gets Another Skyscraper
No, we're not talking about the Trump Tower. Just across the river at 111 W. Wacker, in a spot that currently is a parking lot, the Waterview Tower will be built. This 82-story condo and office skyscraper, designed by Teng and Associates, Inc., will become the city's 3rd tallest residential building, behind the Hancock and Trump's Tower. The location of the Waterview drew some controversy because it is to be built right next door to the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, a Gothic revival church that was built in 1914.
