While ESPN's Marc Stein reported over the weekend that the Bulls signing of Tracy McGrady appeared imminent if he was healthy, it now seems that after yesterday's tryout and meeting that T-Mac's joining the Bulls likely won't happen at all. While the seven-time All-Star has made no secret of his desire to play in Chicago, the affection is not mutual at this point.

Bulls Prep For Free Agent Push
With contradicting media reports flying all over the place helter-skelter and speculation about whether or not there was a Free Agent Summit over the weekend, we're finally getting down to business in the biggest NBA free agent class ever. In just a hair over 10 hours - at 11:01 p.m. Chicago time - teams will be free to contact NBA free agents, including LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, and Dirk Nowitzki (plus several others). While no contracts can be signed until July 8, there will still be plenty of action. All eyes will be on Ohio where LeBron James will entertain reps from just about every team that has the cash to woo the (still title-less) superstar. Both the Knicks and the Nets are expected to meet with him on Thursday. As for the Bulls, there's no timetable for their visit yet, but a report from ESPN today claims the Bulls' delegation will include everyone at the top of the organization: Jerry Reinsdorf as well as coach Tom Thibodeau, general manager Gar Forman, and executive vice president John Paxson (who would do well to wear those three championship rings he won with the Bulls). In case you wanted more speculation and fuel for the rumor-mill fire, ESPN sat down Bill Simmons and Dan LeBatard with Pardon the Interruption's Tony Kornheiser and (Chicago's own) Michael Wilbon for a half-hour of discussion on potential player destinations. While somewhat entertaining, though, the show, like everything else, is pure speculation.
Bulls Trade Salmons for Expiring Contracts
With the greatest free agent class of all time available this summer, the Bulls are actively trying to amass as much room under the salary cap with which to lure the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh to Chicago. As today's 2 p.m. trading deadline looms, rumors have linked just about every player on the roster not named Derrick Rose to potential deals. But it's John Salmons who is the first to be sent packing in return for the coveted expiring contracts. Salmons goes to the Milwaukee Bucks in return for Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson Hakkim Warrick and Joe Alexander.
Sox Sign Andruw Jones To One Year Deal
The White Sox aren't spending Thanksgiving Eve laying about; they're making moves. With the departure of a players like Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye, the team seems to be looking for someone to add a little power and it looks like they're going to take a gamble on Andruw Jones. The Sox and Jones agreed to a one-year, $500,000 deal that includes a potential $1 million in performance-based bonuses, according to Chicago Breaking Sports. Of course, Jones seems to be past his prime, only playing in 82 games in 2009 and turning in a .214/17/43 performance. According to Sox GM Ken Williams, Jones will largely be used as a reserve, adding, "With the addition of Andruw, Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel, we feel our bench is taking shape to be a strong asset heading into the 2010 season." Those three players have over 44 seasons of experience combined.
Free Agency Farewell, Blackhawks Edition
The Bulls weren't the only team bidding farewell to free agents. The Blackhawks joined the club, as two key players from this past season's playoff run have flown the United Center coop to other destinations.
Cubs, Sox Make Offseason Moves
With the free agent signing period for Major League baseball set to begin at 12:00 a.m. Friday morning, clubs are making trades to get the most of what they can before they lose players to the market. First up are the Sox, who dealt Nick Swisher and minor leaguer Kanekoa Texeira to the New York Yankees in exchange for infielder Wilson Betemit and a pair of right-handed pitchers, Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez. While Betemit saw some big league action this year, both pitchers spent '08 in the minors.
