We recently visited Randolph Street's PorkChop, a restaurant and bar that bills itself as a late-night spot serving "gourmet comfort food." Here are some of PorkChop's more popular dishes, served up hot here on Chicagoist as a feast for your eyes.

Crisp and Harold's Chicken Shack made Food and Wine magazine's list of America's best fried chicken.
Flavor Flav's Fried Chicken Emerges in Iowa, We Hope Chicago is Next
We heard over the weekend that Kanye West's Fatburger in Orland Park closed. Our mourning began in earnest, as we wondered what we would do to quench our musician-driven fast food restaurant yearnings without him. Then, a shining star emerged on the horizon to make everything ok - Flavor Flav to the rescue! This weekend, the musician and reality TV star opened Flav's Fried Chicken in Clinton, IA. Unbeknownst to us (and this may change our opinion of Flav) he has a culinary degree and restaurant experience, and plans to actually work at the new restaurant. As our regular readers know, we only approve of celebrity-chef driven restaurants if the chefs are actually cooking, so maybe this one will pass our test.
Best Fried Chicken in America, Harold's Need Not Apply
Hot dogs? Almost daily. Pizza? All the time. Italian beefs? It never stops. The arguments over Chicago's fried chicken scene, however, are few and far between.* Travel and Leisure Magazine has seen fit to fire the first shot with their new list of the best fried chicken joints in America, and it's hard to argue with a list that includes Roscoe's in LA and Hollyhock Hill in Hoosier country.

Your Friday Food Buffet
This week's theme: soul food, y'all. We ate enough of it last week to pine for the days of Ms. Biscuit on South Chicago Avenue (located next door to Mr. Biscuit's Hand Car Wash and Auto Detail). Here we go. City Mouse: Chef Gilbert Langlois (Rushmore, SushiSamba Rio) describes his new North Center-based concept Chalkboard as "new American cuisine," drawing inspiration from French country, classic Southern, and the less spicy elements of Creole for his...
Chicagoist's "Beer of the Week": Unibroue Éphémère
Last week, we went to Chalkboard, the new restaurant in North Center owned by former SushiSamba Rio chef Gilbert Langlois (we'll have a recap of the experience in "Your Friday Food Buffet" later this week). Now, Langlois and his staff have compiled a pretty impressive wine list, but on the day of our visit it was so warm. We wanted a beer that complemented the weather as well as the food. This wasn't a problem...
Fried Chicken, Your Way?
We've had many successes in the Chicagoist kitchen throughout the years — and definitely a few failures. But last week, when we hosted a birthday party for a friend, we started pondering the true meaning of success, at least as it relates to cooking. Per the birthday girl's request, the menu for the night featured fried chicken and waffles. Since we were serving about ten people, we planned three additional sides, as well as cake and soufflé.
Weekend Jaunts: Saturday Edition
Our appetite has been out of control lately, you'd think we were pregnant or something. But, no Chicagoist Jr's in the picture just yet. We blame the abnormal appetite on the hibernating we have doing because of the cold. Well, we are helping you join us this weekend as we bring you some delicious events.
Halal Chicken Showdown on Devon
Two fast food restaurants have opened halal outposts on Devon St, creating competition over whose chicken is the best and whose chicken is more halal. Kentucky Fried Chicken and Brown's Chicken and Pasta are battling it out for the hearts, minds and stomachs of observant Muslim fried chicken eaters. But not everyone is a fan.
An Ode To Harold's Chicken Shack
Down in Nashville there’s an obsession with a dish called “hot chicken.” Legend has it that it started when the girlfriend of a man named Thornton Prince- a notorious womanizer- decided to exert payback on Prince’s whoring around by spiking his fried chicken with enough hot spices to fell an elephant. But the girlfriend discovered the hard way that revenge is indeed a dish best served cold: Prince loved the hot chicken so much he asked for seconds and thirds.
Chicagoist Week In Review: The More You Know Edition
Sure, smoking’s always good for comment bait. But don’t get Chicagoist readers started on the topic of urban renewal! Our post on the plans to knock down the “Artful Dodger building” sent you into paroxysms of preservationist rage. In fact, more of you would rather see condos go up in the Loop than in Chicago neighborhoods (so long as no one complains about the bucket boys, we assume). As far as the proposal to expand...
Famished Motorist Tries To Make His Own Drive Thru
Hungry people at Popeye's on Wabash got more than fried chicken for lunch yesterday. They also got a face full of Volvo Sport SUV, hold the bun.
Latino Chicken War Shaping Up In Chicago
We Americans spend a lot of time crowing about our cultural exports. But this week the global chicken comes home to roost in Chicago. It comes in the form of Guatemalan fried chicken phenom Pollo Campero (annoying music alert!). Then, in a few months it cackles again with the arrival of Mexican broiled chicken behemoth, Pollo Loco.
